when to detox


I am a 47 old male consider myself fit and healthy except for painful knees from years of running and squash resulting in knee operations i regularly go mountain walking with the usual aches after a 4/6 hours summit walk but i feel i may benefit from a detox program could you give me some view if and what could be the benefits to me i have been thinking of doing it in conjunction with a diet as i have put on some mid drift  which im un happy about but cannot seem to lose it through normal excersise

There are many different ways to detoxify your body.  To start it is good to have a goal - to either improve energy, reduce knee pain, reduce heavy metal load, etc. Then pick a week or two when you know that you won't have alot of stress to deal with. You may want to see an alternative health care practitioner to see if you have an issue with heavy metals, organic solvents or candida to help focus a detox plan. A simple approach would be eat a diet of organic fruits, vegetables, nuts, and simple grains for one week and add in green tea and ginger to help your body detoxify.  i would recommend a gentle approach to start.  You can try to get to a sauna help the detoxification.  Some practitioners advocate colonics to help your colon and liver detoxify, but you should first see a health care professional to help you know what would be best for you.
