Using your body effectively in massage

Are you having problems with your hands and wrists? If you have answered yes to this question then you need to change the way you work or your career will be short-lived. Why hurt yourself whilst trying to help others?

This is part 1 of the brand new course to accompany Darien Pritchard’s latest book ’Dynamic Body-use for Effective Strain-Free Massage’ - the widely acclaimed career maintenance reference book which is the manual for this workshop. You can choose to attend both Part 1 and 2 or either workshop - whatever your needs.

This course is accredited by the Federation or Holistic Therapists

Massage practitioners can find themselves developing strains in their hands through their work, particularly if they regularly apply firm pressure. The most common problems arise in the thumbs and the wrist. This sometimes builds ups into constant pain, and can even lead to early retirement and problems in other areas of life.
This workshop addresses these problems by focusing on how you use your hands in massage sessions. It will alert you to the common causes of straining the hands in massage, and offers effective alternatives to reduce these strains. It covers the main principles involved in conserving your hands, particularly your vulnerable thumbs, fingers and wrists, and how to apply pressure without strain. It also looks at ways of using your body in a dynamic, effective way to support the work of your hands, so that you can work with ease while still applying firm pressure.
This workshop covers essential information on how to avoid accumulated strains, save your hands and maintain your career. It is particularly relevant to practitioners with small to medium builds, and those with small or slender hands, but will benefit practitioners of any build.
(Note: This workshop complements the ‘Hands Free’ Massage’ workshop, which covers using your forearm and elbow to save your hands. The ‘Looking after your Shoulders and Back’ workshop will help you look after your hands by focusing in more detail on how to use your body easily and effectively to support them.)

The course fee includes a copy of the book that accompanies this course - if you already have a copy let us know
