The various chiropractic techniques are often based on the principle that when given the right tools and sufficient time, the body will heal itself. These methods help eliminate headaches, lower back pains, ear infections, and other related conditions.

One of the appeals of chiropractic care is the use of natural and non-invasive approaches used to treat the patients (this means no potentially life-threatening surgery or addictive medication). Chiropractic treatment plans offer manual and holistic options for various ailments and injuries.

When you come in with your chronic pain or minor symptoms, your chiropractor already understands the inner workings of your nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and spine, which makes it easy for them to handle the issue.

This treatment uses some of the following techniques listed out here;

       The Gonstead Technique

It's one of the popular spinal adjustment/manipulation treatments used to align the joints in the body. While the Gonstead method applies the same force and quickness associated with typical spinal adjustment techniques, here the chiropractor focuses on a specified joint. It often requires a unique positioning. The Gonstead technique is usually the safest method and is used mostly on pregnant women, kids, and elderly individuals.

Thompson Terminal Point

Chiropractors that apply this method on their patients tend to utilize a particular table that has a section “drop” to make it easy for them to apply controlled force. The idea behind using this specific table is that the slightest dropping facilitates the movement of the joints and helps in the process of treatment. Chiropractic Colorado Springs tend to use this technique because of the special table.

Toggle Drop Technique

This method is quite similar to the Thompson Terminal Point as the chiropractor applies pressure along the special table to aid movement. It's excellent for spine mobilization as it allows the practitioner to target specific joints and areas of the spine for optimal result. While spinal mobilization is similar to spinal adjustments, the former uses a gentler thrust during the process.

Cox Flexion Distraction

This method is a type of spinal mobilization that’s relatively gentle and beneficial. The technique works best on the lower spine, allowing the vertebrae to adjust as the body rocks and stretches. The Cox Flexion is excellent for all patients, especially elderly ones.

Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT)

The SOT is a form of spinal mobilization, but it requires the use of an instrument. Chiropractic treatment plan use the SOT to assist in the realignment of the pelvis. The chiropractor places a wedge under the pelvis of the individual while applying a little low-force pressure.

The Graston Technique

This method also involves using instruments to assist with the chiropractic process. The Graston technique mobilizes the soft tissues in the body by gently scraping at the skin and massaging it. The affected area becomes less restricted when the scar tissues are massaged and broken up. Steel instruments with a rounded and concave-convex shape to them are often employed during the Graston method. The round edge of the tool is massaged and rubbed over the affected part of the patient’s body.

The Activator Method

Chiropracticadopts this form of treatment due to its effectiveness as it helps the chiropractor locate and treat back and neck pains, and even headaches. It’s usually carried out with the patient lying face-down on a table and utilizes a small hand-held instrument that’s used to deliver a pulsing force to the spine.
