For this affliction a certain gipsy remedy should be ignored. Well I think so anyway, sounds awful, especially to hedgehogs. They used the oil collected from roasting hedgehogs, and rubbed it into and around the ears.Another "cure" is a piece of hot or warm onion inserted into the aching ear. Hot cloths or a hot water bottle were also used, and I remember my mother keeping bags made of flannel, filled with salt, on top of the boiler. We always had a hot bag ready if we had ear ache.
