No one is immune to the symptoms of having bad health. Many people practice unhealthy habits ranging from lack of physical activity, poor diet, and negative self talk. Much of these habits are interconnected in many ways. For instance, maybe your lifestyle contributes to a body image you don't quite approve of which then causes your self-esteem to plummet. These emotions can contribute to more unhealthy eating and lack of self care which continues in a vicious cycle of bad habits created overtime. Luckily, it doesn't have to be difficult to make the changes in your lifestyle and improve your health drastically. The following are just a few tips to benefit your mind, body, and soul.

 

Eat Smarter

 

Most people don't take a look at the serving sizes they consume and easily end up overeating. Psychologically, the brain wants to fill a big plate up with food because if it isn't completely full, we believe we will be hungry later. The psychological impact of plate sizing and serving amounts are based on perception. However, sometimes, we know that our perceptions can be deceiving. To eat smarter, you can try replacing your dish wear with smaller plates and smaller bowls so that you don't feel inclined to over eat. The idea that one big plate can't hurt is usually what ends up getting people to gain weight and become frustrated with themselves. Yes, it may be one plate now. Overall, you will be consuming twice or trice the amount of calories daily than you should. Much of this requires you to reprogram how you look at food. It is a small change that will help create discipline.

 

This small change just may be the matter of those last 10 pounds you have been trying to lose. If you get hungry implementing this tip, make sure you drink water while eating. Also, make sure your food is nutritious with enough vitamins and minerals. Below are 8 essential nutrients to add to your diet from the vast variety of other nutrients.

Pamper yourself! Many people are not accustomed to taking the time to treat themselves to a relaxing spa day due to time constraints with work, school, or kids. Pampering doesn't even need to be a spa thing. You can pick a day to prioritize yourself and splurge a bit on things you want whether it be some new clothes, a few new pieces of jewelry, doing something different with your hair, etc. This also relates to your perception of yourself and your self-esteem. You can even create new habits that improve your beauty regimen such as getting facial treatments, trying out some hair vitamins or investing in some workout equipment.

 

Take Your Time

 

Again, with hectic lifestyles, people tend to neglect themselves health wise and even spiritually. This is why zen meditation is a great addition to add to your health to improve your mental health. Meditation has a multitude of benefits such as alleviating anxiety, depression, expanding awareness, increasing intuition, and boosting self-confidence. The idea is to quiet the mind from all of the chatter whether positive or negative. So, you will need to concentrate on your breathing. If thoughts begin to arise, simply go back to focusing on your breathing. It is okay for thoughts to come up in the mind. However, the idea is to not engage or judge the thoughts. When you interact with your thoughts, you reinforce them. Practice being present in the moment and observe your thoughts. Eventually, you will gain the discipline you need to control your mind and shut out any thoughts that do not contribute to your highest good. So, take a deep breath, dedicate a good 10-30 minutes of your time to easing your mind.

 

With these tips you will begin to see major changes in your lifestyle and daily habits. By making time for yourself, your body and mind will thank you later.
