Generic glyburide used in the treatment of type-2 diabetes mellitus is a sulfonylurea agent to control the blood sugar level. This drug can also be used along with metformin drug. Generic glyburide also has side effects that can be treated. Mostly they are minor when serious side effects occur then medical attention is needed. Some of the side effects are nervousness, confusion, difficulty in concentration, hunger, breathing difficulties and severe skin reactions.

Generic glyburide interacts with certain type of food and drugs and increase the intensity of side effects. The physician should be informed if you are undertaking any other medications along with generic glyburide. Ask your physician the following questions before the intake of the drug

How will generic glyburide work?

What are the side effects of generic glyburide?

What are the drugs that interact with generic glyburide?

What are the ways to reduce the side effects?

Some of the drugs that interact with generic glyburide are Warfarin, Rifampin, Beta-Blockers, Medicines used for fungal and yeast functions. The recommended dosage level is 1.25 milligrams once a day. If there is kidney problem or any other disease or you are above 65 years of age consult your doctor before taking.

Suppose if you have missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for next dosage then it is better to skip the dose. Overdose causes serious side effects and needs immediate medical attention. Changes in diet, exercise and some changes in lifestyle can increase the effectiveness of the medicine.
