Conscious eating habits are what holistic nutrition is all about. Eating foods that promote good mental health and physical well-being, while developing a strong immune system and preventing illnesses, is the core focus of holistic nutrition.

A healthy nutrient supplement is a great medicine to control or reverse most of the health issues. Living on a principle of holistic nutrition can help you make a great difference in how food is assimilated into your body.

Though there is no specific diet that accommodates people, there are certain basic holistic nutrition guidelines that you can follow while choosing the food you eat and the way you make it.

Important Holistic Nutrition Guidelines

1.      Consume ample amount of water

An individual must drink at least 8 glasses of water on a daily basis. Even slight dehydration can intervene with the digestive system and lead to various diseases and symptoms.

2.      Pick organic food

Select organic food as much as possible to avoid herbicides, pesticides, irradiated foods, and GMO or genetically modified foods enter into your body. Organic food is freshly grown and has high nutrient value. It tastes much better. You must also purchase organic dairy and meats as they do not contain antibiotics and hormones.

3.      Whole Grains

Pick whole grains when purchasing foods like pasta, rice, bread, cereal, and tortillas. Whole grains are a great source of fiber and nutrients to the body. These whole grains are known to contain around 33 natural nutrients that are excellent to the body.

4.      Purchase Locally Grown Produce

Buy locally grown vegetable and fruits. It is always better to consume freshly harvested produce, which is certified organic product and is harvested before ripening. Such produce is even free from dust and infection met by long miles of transporting to the grocery store.

5.      Fatty Acids

Essential fatty acids are important for good health. Hence, consume good fats in moderation, but no need to avoid fat altogether. Use organic cold-pressed oil like extra virgin olive oil for salads. Cooking needs oil that can be used without being denatured. Hence, you must select organic canola, olive oil, or coconut oil. Flaxseed oil is an excellent solution to prepare breakfast meals.

6.      Consume Minimally Processed and Raw Food

Consume minimally processed and raw food that makes living as difficult as possible. Foods in their natural state comprise more active enzymes and nutrients.

7.      Avoid Refined Sugar, High levels of Fructose

Foods that contain high levels of refined sugar and sucralose contribute seriously to severe health problems.

8.      Consume Salt Less

Limit sodium consumption in your diet to less than 2,300mg per day. This is almost equal to one teaspoon of salt. Check the food labels and you would be able to know how much sodium is added to the processed foods. Substitute regular table salt for something which is healthier and to sea salt.

9.      Sodas and Coffee

These foods have numerous destructive physiological consequences that cause chronic disease and severe illness.

10.  Saturated Fats

These foods are primarily animal sources like red meat and whole milk dairy products.

Besides this the other important considerations to holistic nutrition are:

·         Use digestive enzymes that are natural-plant based, which are great to enhance the digestion. These enzymes are great to reduce the formation of some digestive by-products that can result in intestinal toxicity.

·         Always consume high-quality multi-nutrients on a daily basis to supplement your body with healthy choices. Even most of the organic produce does not hold the same nutritional value that other food items had several decades ago.

·         If switching to a healthier lifestyle, then a major shift is to make gradual changes. Developing novel eating habits can be overwhelmed and confusing and that may intervene with the success in making permanent changes.

·         Eat small portions at regular intervals. This will ensure that you give a head start to your metabolism and offer a lasting energy boost to you.

These are some guidelines for holistic nutrition. So, follow them to have a healthy lifestyle and a body filled with nutrients. For more information, customized diet plans and to talk to a leading dietitian in Mumbai, please visit this website.
