VITAMIN A or Retinol (Afaxin)
Retinol (Afaxin) is the animal form of vitamin A, a fat-soluble. It occurs naturally in animal foods such as cod liver oil, liver, kidneys, with lesser amounts in butter, full-fat dairy products, eggs, margarine and oily fish. Vitamin A is an antioxidant vitamin successful in strengthening vision and bone growth. It belongs to the family of chemical compounds known as retinoids. Vitamin A can also be obtained from conversion of the carotenoid beta-carotene in richly-coloured vegetables, such as carrots, spinach, cantaloupe melons, watercress and sweet potatoes. Vitamin A is vital for a healthy immune system because its presence in cell walls makes them stronger and more resistant to disease. It promotes growth, strong bones, healthy hair, skin, teeth and gums. Some say that it even helps slow down the ageing process.
