Age is a fundamental change that occurs to every one. Some people try to avoid it by spending excess amounts of money on plastic sugary to pull, tighten, synch and tuck unwanted sings of their age. Other people spend their later years suffering from a disease as a consequence of poor choices for example; smoking, large consumption of alcohol, over eating, poor eating habits or living sedentary lives.

With the technological advances in health care and disease prevention people are living longer and longer. Unfortunately a large percentage of older people that live into their later years need a lot of assistance and by the 2030 there will be 70% more elderly people to care for. This could be a huge burden if today's youth and young adults are not living healthily.

There are many dynamics to a person's life that can influence healthy aging but we will just focus on four areas:

  • Healthy Diet
  • Healthy Fitness
  • Healthy Finance
  • Healthy Mental abilities

Healthy Diet

Eating wisely is essential to fueling the body with energy that will sustain and propel it though life's ups and downs. The body needs a balanced diet consisting of grains, carbohydrates, Fruit and vegetables, proteins, and fats. It is essential to educate yourself now about how to care for you body's nutritional needs as it will build up a strong immune system fighting disease and infection. Eliminate foods that have no nutritional value. There's that saying "eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die" but most likely you will live a long life and why make the latter part unhappy and uncomfortable because your poor choices as a youth. As you age visit the doctor annually for a physical, ask questions, find out how you can improve your diet and lifestyle.

Healthy Fitness

The human body is the most amazing design. It has the capability to twist, turn, expand, contract, reach, jump and so much more. We were not made to be sedentary. The skeleton encased with ligaments and tendons connecting muscles covering veins and arteries needs oxygen to achieve optimal health. Exercise is a prime way to increase oxygen intake. An increased heart rate improves circulation, joint mobility and stability, muscle strength, prevents skeletal compression such as osteoporosis, lubricates joints, tendons and ligaments preventing arthritis, improves the hearts ability to provide life for the entire body and it generates a feeling of youth and health. Make fitness a habit that you cannot live without. If fitness is deeply engrained into your life style as a young adult you will bypass a majority of discomforts caused by aging.

Healthy Finance

Money is the cause of so many people's stress and stress is the cause of a low immune system which can trigger many illnesses. By living frugal today and saving money to buy things for tomorrow will save a lot of headaches in the future. So many people rely on credit to purchase wants, credit, when used unwisely becomes a tight cord that continues to rap around you until you choke! If your circumstances permit start a savings, get insurance and have a retirement plan, these financial preparations will build security, stability and safety for your future.

Healthy Mental Abilities

Develop a love for education. Teach yourself to yearn for knowledge. If you teach your mind to hunger for growth it will gain strength and you will develop a health habit that will help keep your brain young and alert. Many elderly people begin to deteriorate due to lack of mental stimulation. Often elderly people sit and vegetate in front of a television for hours in a day watching useless soap operas that provide no opportunities for the mind to grow. The body needs exercise to enjoy health, the brain needs exercise to enjoy life.
