Reflexology is an holistic approach to health, emphasising the care of the whole person - not just their physical level, but emotional, mental and spiritual levels also. Because all these systems interrelate, dysfunction on any one level can lead to disorder in other parts of the body. Reflexology Practitioners adopt this approach recognising the body's unique capacity for self-healing. Reflexology works on these fundamental principles. It is the most natural, non-invasive (and drug less) therapy, in addition to being a very powerful one.

What is Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that treats the whole body. Every organ, structure and system of the body is mirrored in the feet (and hands). They are connected through a system of energy within the body, which can become congested or blocked, causing the body to function less effectively. Practitioners seek to relax tension and direct the free flow of energy throughout the body thus encouraging normalisation of bodily functions. A full treatment will facilitate each individual's own healing process.

Who can Reflexology treatments help

Reflexology is a therapy suitable for all ages, from babies to senior citizens. It should not be regarded as a cure-all, but most conditions respond to treatment.

Reflexology can provide relief from:

Muscular tension, Stress, PMT, Infertility, Menopause, Asthma, Hay fever, Eczema, Insomnia, Irritable bowel/Colitis, Migraines/Headaches, Sinusitis

It also provides great benefit to sufferers with Myalgic Encephalitis (M.E.) and is highly recommended by antenatal clinics for expectant mothers.

Reflexology also has great preventative value because imbalances can be detected and corrected at an early stage. Reflexology, however, is not just for those with obvious health problems - an occasional course of treatment is a pleasant way of relaxing, maintaining health and well-being.

Reflexology improves circulation and relieves stress, improves the nerve and blood supply within the body and helps to restore and maintain, if sessions are continued, equilibrium.

Reflexology does not conflict with orthodox medical treatment. As with other complementary therapy practitioners, reflexology practitioners endeavour to work in conjunction with medical practitioners. Indeed many medical practitioners are now referring their patients to reflexology practitioners where they believe such treatments could assist with specific conditions, saving the patient from continually taking drugs.

How many treatments will be required

Each individual's body is different and each has particular needs in relation to their medical condition. However, approximately four weekly sessions are recommended in the first instance, followed by fortnightly/monthly 'top-ups' to keep the body's balance ongoing.

Treatment Sessions

The initial consultation takes approximately 1 hour and usually includes a period of investigation of your specific condition(s) that require treatment. (Clients are requested to provide as much detail as possible on their medical history including any prescribed medication currently being taken.) Subsequent sessions last around 50 minutes.
