The entire Advanced Diploma course is a two year programme, year 1 being the Diploma in Sports Massage and Remedial Bodywork.
Year 2 of the programme builds on the skills and knowledge gained as a Sports Massage therapist, providing the necessary skills and expertise to fully rehabilitate the sportsperson. This challenging course provides an in-depth understanding of injuries and their rehabilitation, together with the study of Sports Nutrition, Special Populations and a nationally recognized Personal Training qualification, which many leading gyms regard as the gold standard in this field. Consideration is given, too, to the influence of psychological issues on individual performance and recovery from injury.
The modules of the course have been structured to conform to University standards, to facilitate major exemptions from degree requirements for those who wish to undertake further study alongside professional practice.
The Advanced Diploma phase follows the same format as year 1 taking 2 days per week over 3 terms, with additional supervised evening clinics and mandatory work experience. Those with previous knowledge and experience will qualify for exemptions from certain modules via the Accreditation for Prior Learning Process.
