Can black seed be used as a remedy for acne? Traditionally it has been used for hundreds of years as one of the popular natural home remedies for acne in the Orient.

Acne is caused when the oil producing sebaceous glands and hair follicles within the skin are stimulated and become inflamed causing an excess of sebum to be produced. The excessive sebum clogs the hair follicles which results in acne

Black seed or black cumin is becoming more and more popular in the West, commonly used in Islamic countries because of the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

"Hold on to the use of the blackseed for indeed it has a remedy for every disease except death."

Can we in the West take such a statement seriously.

As we have little knowledge of the Islamic faith in the West we may find comfort that science has confirmed his words with nearly 1000 research papers.

Research has shown that black seed contains 100 healing components such as alanine, cystine, glycine, linolenic-acid and potassium. It has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory analgesic, antipyretics and antineoplastic poperties making it an ideal home remedy for acne.

Black seed is also special as a natural treatment for acne as it strengthens the immune system. A weak immune system will allow the overproduction of sebum in the skin causing acne.

Black seed oil restrengthens the immune system with its natural herbs where the enemies which create acne will be expelled.

Black cumin should be administered 2-3 times a day in a teaspoon of oil. One should be certain to obtain a pure cold pressed black seed oil.

One should also add 2 teaspoons of black seed oil to a bowl of hot water and then put ones face over the bowl with a towel covering ones head and the bowl. The steam will open the skins pores and the anti bacterial healing qualities of the oil will help purify the skin.

Depending on the severity of the condition herbal remedies such as black seed oil work naturally. As a natural home remedy for acne this will take time to heal and may need to be administered for 1-2 weeks before one sees any results.
