COLOUR THERAPY Colour Therapy is a natural system of healing that used the energy of the spectrum colours to harmonise and balance the mind, body and spirit.

How it does it work?
It is based on the philosophy that we need exposure to the full spectrum of colours found in sunlight to be healthy. Coloured light enters the eyes and travels to the pituitary, the master gland of the endocrine system, affecting our entire metabolism.  The way we deal with stress and our  feelings  are directly affected by the colours entering our system because these effect our hormonal levels  and brain chemicals circulating in our body.  These colours regulate our metabolism,co-ordinate our body clock and maintain all our primary systems such as circulation, digestion, nervous and immune systems.

Where did Colour Therapy develop?
Colour therapy  is an ancient art  and has existed in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and China for thousands of years.  To-day it is one of the fastest growing areas of natural health with an explosion of scientific development  that is confirming the ability of  light  and colour to heal. This therapy is now use extensively in Asia, Europe and America as a complementary treatment of many chronic ailments including: asthma, arthritis, nervous and mental disorders, depression, eating disorders, skin diseases, digestive ailments, blood and circulation problems, fevers, rheumatism, shock, relief of pain as part of the treatment for many serious illnesses such as paralysis, multiple sclerosis, M.E., Cancer and Aids.  It is also useful as an aid to pain control and to speed up recuperation after an operation.

How does it work in the modern environment?
Light therapy is now also used in a spa environment as specific light treatments where coloured light is projected onto different areas of the body to stimulate the body's own healing systems. Specific wave-lengths are used in skin-care and beauty treatments and in sports medicine and in hydro-therapy options with colour therapy showers and baths to enhance your mood and relax the mind.

What does a Colour Therapist do?
A Colour therapist shows you how to use these colours in your daily life for healing, health, relaxation inspiration and protection. They will also offer a range of colour therapy treatments to balance energy, aid creativity and learning, release blocks and alleviate physical, emotional and mental pain. It is the aim of a colour therapist to help the patient regain balance in their life, and promote harmonious vibrations to create a state of well-being. When this happens it is surprising how many physical ailments disappear.

What does a colour therapy treatment consist of?
A course of Colour Therapy treatment begins with diagnosis in order to establish the underlying causes of any problems you many have. The therapist may use one or more of these techniques.  They will start by giving you a colour analysis asking you to tell them about your favourite colours and those you don't like. Alternatively they may use a spinal reflexology chart, and possibly art therapy for diagnosis. This is followed by treatments which may include a combination of the following: Colour Therapy is a natural system of healing that used the energy of the spectrum colours to harmonise and balance the mind, body and spirit.
