Testosterone is the key male hormone. Making enough testosterone is not only needed for proper sexual function, it is necessary for muscle health and cardiovascular health.* Sex drive, sexual performance, and the frequency that sex is possible are all tied to a healthy testosterone level.*

Thyroid hormone, growth hormone, and testosterone are synergistic in supporting muscle health, all acting on muscle to help maintain fitness.* Maintaining lean muscle as one ages is essential for healthy weight management, as the greater the muscle mass of a man the more calories per day that can be burned by the muscles at rest - not to mention when the muscles are used.*

Testosterone and leptin have an inverse relationship. As leptin levels rise, often due to weight gain, then testosterone levels go lower. This trend also stresses insulin function and strains proper circulation. A primary goal for any man is to maintain excellent physical fitness. This requires consistent physical activity or strength exercises. Exercise is supported by adequate dietary protein, B vitamins for energy, and antioxidants to protect against the extra free radicals made during exertion.* Many men also like extra structural nutritional support, and the Rejuvenation Pack is a favorite to help support natural recovery from exercise.*

Due to stressful wear and tear, the male system may become fatigued. Male Plus is designed as a male system tonic, helping to provide nourishment to perk up interest and sexual energy.* It does not contain yohimbine or other compounds that are primary nervous system stimulants, as we don't consider this to be of any great value and may act to irritate the system.

This is not a body building supplement or an athletic performance enhancing supplement. For example, it does not raise testosterone to abnormal levels that build massive muscle or provide some type of competitive sports advantage. No herbal supplements have been proven to do that.

Rather, the focus of this supplement is on nourishment of the male system, helping to support natural levels of testosterone production and energy production.*

Muira Puama

Muira puama, also called "potency wood," is a small tree native to the Brazilian Amazon. It has been used traditionally as a tonic for muscles, an aide for weak digestion, and as a sexual stimulant.* Early explorers, noting the aphrodisiac properties of muira puama, brought it back to Europe where it has been part of herbal medicine. Research has identified its main active ingredients as long-chain fatty acids, sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes, and alkaloids. Several French studies with humans indicated a positive result for male function.* No known mechanism of action in the male system has been proven. Recent studies and traditional use indicate that muira puama has anti-fatigue properties.*

Tribulus Terristrus

Tribulus is an herb that has been used for centuries in India as a male system tonic and aphrodisiac.* Studies show that it supports the production of luteinizing hormone in the brain, the signal that then stimulates testosterone production in the testes.* It may help maintain testosterone in the normal range.* It has also been shown to support healthy circulation.* The active component has been identified as a steroidal saponin called furostanol. Our product is standardized for 45% furostanol. The choice of both Muria Puama and Tribulus, compared to other herbal options, is due to the very long standing and ongoing traditional use of both herbs to support male energy and that both herbs appear to work as nourishing tonics in the male system.*

L-Ornithine Alpha-ketoglutarate

L-Ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate is formed by two molecules of ornithine and one alpha-ketoglutarate. It is a very interesting anti-wear and tear nutrient, more significant than the sum of either of its parts.* It also acts as a tonic, assisting protein metabolism and hormone signals (insulin and growth hormone).* It fuels arginine, glutamine, and proline production while helping to clear ammonia. It has been shown to boost nutritional status in weakened states.*

7-Keto DHEA

DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is synthesized in the adrenal cortex from cholesterol. It is the most abundant adrenal steroid in the human body, working closely with cortisol to support healthy stress management. As DHEA levels decline it is more difficult to maintain proper body weight. Many DHEA supplements can be metabolized into estrogen or testosterone and the results are somewhat unpredictable. We use 7-Keto (a trade name for the compound 3-acetyl-7-oxo dehydroepiandrosterone), which is a metabolite of DHEA and does not convert to estrogen or testosterone, yet it maintains a positive influence on metabolic enzymes involved with weight management.*
