This Product has been viewed 3281 times.

RelaxaMagTM contains magnesium bound to glycine, a relaxant amino acid. Taking 2-3 at bedtime promotes a deeper and more restful sleep, directly helping to turn off excess nerve activity and restore a natural sleep rhythm. It may be taken during the day to reduce irritability or stress and to relax the circulatory system.*

Magnesium deficiency is one of the most common problems facing Americans, due in part to the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet and soils depleted in magnesium from poor farming methods. Magnesium is lost in sweat and used up by stress. This combination of factors makes dietary supplements with high quality magnesium a top priority.*

Quality of magnesium is important. Magnesium oxide is a cheap salt of magnesium and never used in Wellness Resources products. Oxide salts break apart in metabolism and the oxide requires an antioxidant to neutralize it. Why spend precious antioxidants neutralizing a low quality form of magnesium supplement? Companies using oxide minerals are clearly not quality focused, regardless of what they say.

A lack of magnesium poses an interesting catch-22 in terms of how to get magnesium into cells. This is because magnesium is "pumped" across cell membranes and the pump requires magnesium to function in an optimal way. A supplement of magnesium oxide or chloride may increase blood levels of magnesium, but the magnesium may not be able transport across cell membranes due to the lack of magnesium required to run the pump.*

Magnesium is also required in the final steps of cellular energy production (the formation of ATP). Thus, a deficiency in magnesium intake or the lack of ability of magnesium to get into cells will limit the rate at which energy can be made, affecting all other function in the human body.* This is why many authors writing about magnesium deficiency list almost every symptom imaginable - indeed, adequate energy is important for all structure and function in the human body.*

Wellness Resources has solved this problem by using forms of magnesium that are naturally chelated to nutrients that cells like to absorb by other mechanisms, enabling magnesium to "piggy back" a free ride into the cell where it can assist in energy production and promote the normal function of the magnesium pump.*

For example, in Daily Energy Multiple VitaminTM we use magnesium bound to malic acid. Malic acid is drawn into the cell to help make cellular energy (it is an important Krebs cycle nutrient) and it brings the magnesium with it.* Another excellent magnesium supplement is magnesium bisglycinate (magnesium naturally bonded to two molecules of the amino acid glycine). This is viewed by the body as a protein and readily absorbed.* Glycine is used in liver and nerve cells in large amounts, helping to bring magnesium with it into these cells.* It is this type of quality difference in Wellness Resources supplements that enables them to work so well

In addition the magnesium in Daily Energy Multiple VitaminTM, Daily Bone XcelTM, Daily BuilderTM, and Coral Calcium, we have two specialty magnesium products, RelaxaMagTM and Muscle MagTM. Each provides 100 mg of elemental magnesium per capsule, provided in the high quality chelate form. RelaxaMagTM promotes nerve and muscle relaxation.* It is our most popular magnesium supplement to assist sleep or to reduce the stressful feeling of irritation (when taken during the day).* Muscle MagTM is higher in malic acid and has cofactor nutrients designed to support muscle energy production.* It is a great supplement to support exercise or help offset muscle fatigue.*

Cardiovascular Health

All of our magnesium-containing products contribute this important mineral to help support cardiovascular health, one of the most important roles of magnesium.*

Magnesium is involved with healthy cholesterol metabolism.* The HMG CoA reductase enzyme requires magnesium for normal function. Think of it this way: HMG CoA reductase is like the gate on a fence. When the gate is open then the animals can run out, or in the case of cholesterol, the process that makes it is set in motion. Magnesium works by energizing the gate control so that it can properly open and close in response to other signals coming from other aspects of metabolism.* A deficiency of magnesium de-energizes the gate control, tending to leave the gate open too much.*

Magnesium influences many aspects of cardiovascular health in a fundamental way.* This is because magnesium is required for the healthy function of nerves going to the heart, the heart itself, and smooth muscles.* Magnesium helps calm tension in the cardiovascular system, while supporting normal energy production.*
