When it comes to different stomach problems heartburn is a topic that is frequently mentioned. There are a lot of approaches and methods that have been used to relieve heartburn. Some methods are more effective than others while others can actually hurt your stomach and stomach lining.

Go See a Doctor

If you are really experiencing heartburn on a daily basis and it interferes with your daily routine and life it could be something serious. Making an appointment with your doctor can save you from taking unnecessary medicines.  


Your doctor may refer you to a specialist if they think there is something serious. Sometimes heartburn can act as a symptom of an underlying cause. Once the underlying cause is treated the heartburn will go away and you can live pain free.


Natural Approaches

Taking medicine every time you have heartburn can be annoying and frustrating. Luckily there are different ways you can beat your heartburn without taking any medicine. You can take baking soda for heartburn and it will relieve your symptoms and help settle your stomach.


You can try sleeping with your neck and head propped up with pillows so your digestive system doesn’t allow stomach acid to escape while you are asleep. You can also try adding ginger to your food or drinking ginger tea.  


Essential Oils

You can try essential oils if you do not want to take an antacid pill everyday. When you get heartburn you can put different essential oils on your stomach and rub them in. You can also make your own pills and take the oils orally if that is a better fit for you and your situation.


You may feel relief right away after applying the oils. Anything that is cooling such as peppermint and spearmint can help relieve your stomach problems. Essential oil producers will have different blends that are made for stomach problems that combine different oils so you only have to worry about using one oil instead of several different oils.   


Follow a Diet

There are different foods that actually make your heartburn worse. If you have tried other approaches such as pills and different salves and nothing has helped, you may need to adjust your diet.


This doesn’t mean that you have to go on a keto diet or some diet that is made for losing weight. A diet just means what you eat so you may have to adjust what you eat so you don’t get heartburn.


Heartburn can be caused by spicy foods and even by foods that you are allergic or sensitive to. This is not an instant overnight thing that happens and is more of a process that will take several weeks. This is done by eliminating something from your diet and see if you get any relief.


Destress Your Life

Your body is good at telling you if there is something wrong in your life. If you are under a lot of stress and anxiety your body could be telling you this with heartburn. Your digestive tract can feel knotted and distressed when put under a lot of pressure. If this pressure is prolonged it can lead to stomach ulcers which require some healing.


Start by cutting out things that do not really matter. You can do this by learning to say no or cutting down your schedule while practicing self care.


Having heartburn is never fun and can make your life miserable if it is not under control. With some trial and error you can find a solution that stops your heartburn and lets you live your life.
